I need a good tether app

I want a good tether that has it all. I don't know which is the best out there or the best for my buck.

most of the time you can unlock native tethering by editing the build.prop and then not need another app for it

I'm using Wireless Tether right now.

I don't know what you mean by "has it all". I thought tethering was tethering. What more is there?

I've never heard of that. Does it have any extra features or does it just get the job done?

The best tether out there that I found is called Barnacle Wifi tether. It works great.

For wired tethering I would suggest EasyTether. It is very fast and auto connects when you plug it into the computer.

Depends on your needs. I have two android devices, and needed my Android tablet to tether to my cricket handset (Optimus C). The problem was that the Optimus C, did not support being an Access point for others to connect to. The chipset supported going into adhoc mode, but the android software on either the tablet not phone has the option of going to into adhoc mode. My solution was to root them both(The optimus already was) and using installing apps on each. On the optimus, I installed an adhoc-switcher, which allowed it to enter adhoc-mode. Then on my tablet I replaced the wireless-supplicant binary on the filesystem with a modified one, which will search both AP and adhoc mode wireless stations. So when I need to use it, on my phone I enter the adhoc switcher app, and switch to that mode, then go to my wifi-tether application and start tethering. Then I just search for it on my tablet, and away I go. This led me to an evil game I invented(since I always use this feature at airports which does not have free wifi). I enable tethering on my phone. Wait for a few people to connect then disable the service. This is when the game starts! The point of the game is to identify how many people were attempting to mooch off my internet by their vocal frustration when I kill it. At best I have been able to identify two of 10. What's your scores?

If you're rooted, go with Open Garden Wifi Tether! That application is flawless. I had issues with Barnacle. Open Garden has lots of good reviews and it's pretty stable.

Although this post is a bit old, I'll chime in with what I use with my Ascend 2. Barnacle is extremly good! I use that alot! But on my desktoo Ill also use PDAnet. Both are great programs.

@Playfullgod not everyone is a programer!! Now hurry up and get that Cm7 rom for the Ascend 100% working!! I for one will donate to you heavy once wifi is working on it!
