    OK so I went to the market and found Flash Image GUI. Spent 0.99 on it and flashed this alpha recovery. Says it did it, but I can't get the thing to boot into recovery.

    Sillyputtyddd installed it this way in terminal:
    su
    mount -o remount, rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
    cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
    chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
    flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

    Solid work though! I also really like the wiki page.

    Also for people getting the stock recovery image back on remember to back up contacts etc. Like SillyPutty said earlier. They will get deleted so remember to back it up so you can download it back on.

    Your phone service will work regardless though.

    Also the hard reboot to recovery is: Turn off phone, hold down the power button + volume down + home button

    I installed this recovery using command prompt and adb. Here are the steps I took to flash this recovery:

    I have installed it by putting both the recovery.img and flash_image (from the all in one recovery install) on the sd card. You can download the "flash_image" from this post and must be put on the sd card with the recovery.img. I then performed the following:

    * Open command prompt
    * adb shell
    * adb su
    * mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
    * cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
    * chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
    * flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
    * reboot recovery

    You can also install via a terminal program, but again the recovery.img and flash_image must both be on the root of your sd card

    * su
    * mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
    * cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
    * chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
    * flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
    * reboot recovery

    This installed PlayfulGod's recovery and booted into it. You then must use the volume up/down keys to navigate the menu and camera button to actually access the menu/command.

    I also installed the recovery using Flash Image GUI that I found a PPC geeks. I can confirm that PlayfulGod's recovery works well. It does have a error message at the bottom, but that doesn't seem to screw up any functions.

    Another way to install it is thru ROM Manager. NO you cant just pick it n install it but you can download one of the available in the list and replace it with mine.

    Installing an unofficial recovery.img with ROM Manager:

    1. Install ROM Manager from the market and open it up.
    2. Press Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
    3. Pick any of the listed recoveries
    4. Wait til it finishes downloading
    5. In a file explorer navigate to clockworkmod/dowload/download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/
    6. Rename the recovery you just downloaded and add .bak to it.
    7. Now rename my recovery to the name of the recovery you downloaded exactly. (- the .bak )
    8. Go back to the main menu
    9. Press Flash ClockworkMod Recovery again and select the exact same one from the list again. Since its already been downloaded it will just flash it now.
    10. When its finished it will pop a notice up.

    Now with this method the version # will be of the other device's recovery but wont affect any functions.

    I found this about the E:Bad boot message "recovery" error

    http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-o...-t-mobile.html

    "Also dont worry about the E:Bad boot Message. Bad boot message is due to a evil service lg uses that instant reboots out of recovery. Service is disabled in my recovery causing that message on lg vortex, opt one and t. They use a different kernel setup on optimus s so that one doesn't have it. Its completely fine."
