Can't wait to see it and try it out. Can you give a fellow, learning Optimus C owner a tip on how you got 2.3 on it? What recovery are you using?

I would like to get a copy of that rom myself. Think there are a few files in there I would like to get my mouse on. Been looking for a cricket market apk file. or it might be com.android.vending-*.apk tried one but it ended up being sprint.

Has the gingerbread 2.3 came out for the C? Or do we need a ROM to get it? Accidently bricked my phone downloading the wrong ROM. Not going to jailbreak it again till I know there's a ROM out. Hopefully that will be soon.

    LG Optimus S

Hi, I am so totally new here! I'm probably stepping out of line as I have done no introductions. But if you need any files I am sure I can pass some along. I have the Optimus S currently not in service on Sprint or Cricket. But if you need files or a nandroid backup I am sure I can help out! The two cricket files I picked up from this one thread has put a smile on my face...but I would like to request a couple more one is the apns-conf.xml and the others would be related to the standard apns on the phone! But I still believe in fully porting over the S or the M or the V to cricket alot of the rewritting is in the NV part of the phone! Thank you to all and I hope to be getting to know you all more. by the way I go by jerboi2!

Credit for some of the instructions for resetting the Optimus C back to factory go out to mmarz (
[HowTo] Restore the Stock Firmware Using Emergency Recovery Techniques (Untested) - Android Forums

) and 00_wrath_00. I have just edited their instructions and added some of my own experience with resetting my own Optimus C back to factory.

    As stated in mmarz thread,

NO ONE should try this. No one. Not ever. Don't do this. This will brick your phone. No one do this! If you can get into adb shell or your recovery there is absolutely no reason to ever do this! Never ever ever ever ever ever!!!!!

BUT IT DID WORK FOR ME. I HAVE TESTED THIS ON MY OWN CRICKET OPTIMUS C.

    1. Download the package I have put together to restore phone to factory
    OptimusC.rar

    2. Extract it into your C:\ directory such that KP500-Utils-EN.exe is located: C:\KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2\KP500-Utils-EN.exe along with cab file.
    2. Firmware and KP500-Utils-EN.exe should be located within the same directory
    3. Make sure you have the most recent version of LG Mobile Support Tool Mobile Phone Support. Uninstall older version and re-install the latest if you do not already have.
    4. Turn off your phone and take out the microsd card
    5. Turn phone back on
    6. Connect your phone with the USB
    7. Make sure you have your phone in USB debugging mode by going to Settings/Applications/Development and tapping on USB debugging
    8. Run KP500-Utils-EN.exe
    9. Press the letter J on your keyboard and press enter
    10. Type LW690 for Phone Model and press enter
    11. Type LW690ZV5_01.S5_01.cab and press enter
    12. Type LW690ZV5 for the Version and press enter
    13. The updater in my package will open up and probably complain that the phone is not connected. Just click restart and the program will continue.
    14. Allow the program to do it's thing. Your phone eventually should reboot with a screen that says it's upgrading.
    15. Wait until the downgrade is complete and the phone reboots. Do not unplug your phone until the program asks you to exit.
    16. For me, it went back to my home screen and did not loop on the animation screen. But if it does loop on the android animation don't panic. Pull the battery out.
    17. Perform a factory reset by going into settings menu/privacy and click on factory data reset.
    18. Perform factory reset.
    19. Then wait. Phone will start up and animation will take a while till it gets to the Welcome screen. This brought me back to a factory Cricket ROM, unrooted.
Please help somehow i bricked my phone trying to flash a recovery. No matter what i try it just hangs on the LG logo. Ive tried every combination of buttons with no luck. But what i did find was that i can hold vol up+back button and plug in the usb cable it enters a screen saying software upgrade do not unplug. Could this somehow help me fix my optimus c?

You should have waited, a recovery was just finished. An official one built specifically for the C -.-

Won't be out for a few more days. It's done, I just have a really busy schedule. Considering i'm running cyanogenmod 7 it works great.

You didn't perform a nand backup before installing CM7? If you did, you can restore from that. I have installed CM7 and don't seem to be having any more issues since I have fixed the "Metro PCS" in the status bar and lock screen. I also used the MMS fix and now can send and receive mms. Under "CyanogenMod settings", "Display settings" I turned off Screen-on and Screen-off animation. This seems to help with the screen with waking up. I also have upgraded my partition to ext4.

I can see if I can provide you with step by step directions on how to go back to "factory" status on your C. I will look thru the instructions I placed at the beginning of this thread and make sure they are exactly how I have restored to stock many times.

*** I just confirmed the steps in post #15 and that is exactly how I restore to a factory rom. I have never had my phone brick or any other issues using that method. I have restored to factory probably about 20 times or more using those as I play around with roms and recoveries. Those steps restore you to 2.2.1. After restoring to 2.2.1, you can run the LG software updater tool to upgrade back to 2.2.2.***
