    Question is ICS technically possible on the OC, or are there 'impossible' incompatibilities?

    I've been reading up on ICS development, and I'm seeing conflicting info on whether ICS can be adapted to any particular phone.

    So my question stands: Is it technicappy possible to put ICS/Android 4.x on the Optimus C, or are there impossible hurdles to overcome such as incompatible hardware, lack of avaiable drivers, etc?

    Thanks!

    well, according to
    LG LW690 Optimus C Detailed Specs | Technical Datasheet | PDAdb.net

    the Optimus C has 512mb RAM, 413 usable, and a Qualcomm Adreno 200 GPU (drivers for ICS located here:
    https://developer.qualcomm.com/downl...6001-armv6.zip

    )
    so we should be able to do this.

    I would say you POSSIBLY could, but why would you want to? Honestly as a OC owner, I wouldn't waste the time trying due to it's low specs and already bad battery life. I know some people have great battery life with this phone, but ICS would chew up the resources on this phone without hesitation.

    600MHz processor and 512MB RAM low end GPU.

    My opinion is if you want ICS, get a phone with at least 1 GHz proc and more ram. The Mercury, Moto Droid series phones (I own a Droid X personally), and better would provide better results for ICS. Just my personal opinion.

    I run CM9, Gummy, or one of the colored Gummy Kangs (thanks to the recomendation of another CU user) on my DX with minimal issues. You can pick up a Droid X on Ebay for 80-150 bucks all day.

    Not bad man. If my OC wasn't my wife's every day driver, I'd start learning development and help out with this one since I would love to have a role in the development community. I think she's happy with BobZhome's CM7.2 port though.

    Id say buy a better device and build an ICS rom for yourself, why even bother with a low end device that wouldnt even give you a nice experience.

    These are my thoughts exactly, but it would be interesting to work on something like this even though it wouldn't be an everyday driver for my OC. Would most likely be in a slot for me...

    There's already unofficial CM9 (ICS) ports for the Optimus S. With good reviews. I've got a port of CM7 on my G1(Long retired). That's the beauty of android and our development community. We keep older devices viable long past their intended lives.

    Really? I may have to dust off the G1 and get a copy just for kicks. I remember when a guy named Steve popped up on XDA a very long time ago and asked "do you guys want a pony"... CM was born. Ah memories.
