    Need help with some apps!!

I recently purchased the optimus c and I was wondering what antivirus, app killer and battery monitor/saver you guys recommend? Currently using AVG for antivirus. No battery or app killer installed yet.

    DON'T use an app killer.
Lookout is a good anti virus, plus more.

Being a dev myself, and seeing how you'd actually have to allow malicious software to attack android I see antivirus software as being rather pointless and a waste of resources. Those type of programs seem to target a certain user group.

I've tried different combinations of these various programs for a couple years now and I will say I don't think ANY of them are really needed.

If you have root, you just need a solid, custom ROM flashed << most devs will cook their ROMS for best performance including battery life and app management. You could go a step further, use Titanium Backup or Root Explorer and delete/uninstall any apps that you don't use. Sometimes, there are apps that run in the background that are not needed. Also, go into your settings, accounts, and check exactly what is being synced and how often. To me, things like this will be just as effective as trying to run all of these other programs. At the most, maybe a battery monitor/saver, but def don't need an app killer or antivirus. Just my 2 cents!

***Be careful when uninstalling/deleting programs***If you are unsure of what a program is, it's best to leave it installed***

Also, realize Android phones will not match the battery life of a "dumb" phone or a Blackberry phone. These phones are computing and media machines and require juice to do all of the fun things you like/need to do.
