    New software released for Optimus C by LG - Android 2.2.2, NOT Gingerbread

    I performed a software updater through the LG update tool today and found there is new software released. Will report back to you shortly on what it is and if it can be rooted.

    ** Just finished updating through the LG update tool. Here's what it is:
    * Previous firmware was LW690ZV5_01.S5_01.P29102. New software is listed as LW690ZV6_02.S6_02.P29102.
    * It's Android 2.2.2 - well LG did release 2.2.2 before making the jump to Gingerbread.
    * Update does not contain the latest Google Maps, Gmail or Photobucket. Once you open market, it wants to update these.
    * Rooted fine using GingerBreak 1.20

    * Flashed custom recovery using

    * Nand back worked and restored from backup.

    * Haven't noticed anything major with this release other than the phone seems to be a little faster.

    admin, Thanks. I forgot to add the link to the LG Mobile Support site. I sometimes assume that if you connect your phone to your computer, you will have the LG update tool. Never assume. Thanks again.

    Actually we don't have an Optimus C so we didn't know. Thanks for the post. It was promoted to an article on the front page.

    :

    Android 2.2.1 and Android 2.2.2 are two minor revisions to Android 2.2 (Froyo). There are no new features added in these revisions. The revisions only included some improvements and bug fixes. The first revision to Android 2.2 was released in May 2010. Android 2.2.1 included improvements mainly on Gmail application and Exchange Active Sync. It also received an update to Twitter and refreshed weather widget. Android 2.2.2 was released in June 2010. There were complains about an email bug that randomly select a recipient from the contact list and forward a random message in the inbox on its own. Android 2.2.2 update was released mainly to address this email bug that randomly forward the text messages in the inbox. So, the main difference between Android 2.2.1 and Android 2.2.2 is this bug fix, the features remain same as in Android 2.2.
