What ypu can do is get to that "flashing recovery" step, wait 15 seconds, then unplug the phone and battery. Now try going into cystom recovery by puttin battery in, hold volume UP and Powrr until you get a screen with blue letters. If you do yhen good. Now go to the folder you downloaded earlier, copy the fastroot.zip (thats in the same folder as fastboot.exe) to sdcard. reboot into recovery (mentioned few secs ago) then to "install from sdcard" look for fastroot.zip and install. Should say rooted if done correctly.

If you use the fastroot.exe and folliw the steps until it says flashing recovery (it should of rebooted into the huawei logo) then it shouldve flashed cwm recovery. If it didnt reboot then thats because you didnt pyt it in usb debugging as it says the firat step to do once you open the program.

With this you can be on any firmware, but ppl are having issues so im updating it when i have time. But you can look for the "ascend 2.3.3,4,5 root" thread in the as2 sections.
