More like you pouting. I'm not trying to start a flame war, however; you need not get upset. We understand that our devices are brickable and we accept that fact. There's a reason I made sure to get insurance

Does insurance cover bricking your phone from trying to hack it?

The store rep I talked to said (in his own words) "smash it with a hammer" and then come in and get another one with a deductible. I imagine that there is a limit to the number of phones you can get, I know Verizon's TEC asurion only covers two devices in a 24 month period... or was it 12 month period... I'm not sure. In the worst case scenario I can say I lost the phone. Insurance definitely covers lost/stolen phones. You just have to be willing to front a deductible.

Just to clarify, I'm talking about insurance. NOT a warranty replacement. Warranty replacements only cover manufacture defects. Rooting is classified as DAMAGE which is only covered by insurance. Doubly also, the update.zip appears to have successfully rooted my phone without bricking it. Cudos to Mr. Vadim for the zip. Step two is to now make a recovery image and then remove all the bloatware. I'M OFF! (swishes cape)

<--- unbrick / stock rom - straight from huawei

^^^Not like it's a PPA exclusive or anything... No offense intended.

Thomas, slow down bro, we're all trying to achieve the same goal here, keep that in mind...

I have deodexed & optimized the apps and framework from the system dump @ PPA if anyone is interested...

I can also attest to that. I have successfully rooted my phone as well without bricking it. On top of that I've successfully installed my Set CPU (not sure if there was really any improvement though because I couldn't figure out how to overclock it past 600mhz (not sure if I want to try it until others have??) so I just set up profiles on what I'd prefer. I've also successfully installed Titanium Backup Pro and froze a few of the bloatware items. Lastly AdFree as well (still need to check to see how it functions in Angry Birds ;D). Anyway, Ascend II feels fantastic and seamlessly fluid.

What's up guys I rooted my phone using the method described here
‪How to Root the Huawei Ascend 2‬‏ - YouTube

which seems to be what everyone else picked up on. I was on my phone earlier today, and it bricked...how bricked? It wouldn't leave the Cricket starting screen, although I could hear sounds and haptic feedback pressing on the screen. I restarted my phone volume up key and just redid it all. Don't really know what it was.... The backup feature on Cricket works really well backing everything I had up. Any ROMS, or anything to overclock this phone would be sick. GeezusChricket how'd acwm go?

I rooted and have set cpu up to 600. I used an update.zip I got from a link on Android Forums. I have complete root and it was as simple as downloading the zip to my sd, booting into recovery volume up + power and installing the zip from sd. if anyone is interested I can post the link?

He didn't create anything, the cpu is default at 600. It can be underclocked with the current kernel and OC with cm7 but that's it. Yeah it's done
