I am running gingerbreak now, it is taking awhile but it is doing it. So once that is done, then what?

After its rooted then download Rom Manager from the Market. Use that to install the Recovery.

Once you finish, just follow the flashing tutoral.

No, Rom manager will install custom recovery once you open it, then click on the first option. It will download the recovery and install it automatically so you dont need to save anything to your sdcard or worry about the recovery.img.

No, dont worry about that zip.

1.Install Rom Manager (Market) to your phone

    2.Open Rom Manager

3.Click on the First option it gives you.
(it will download and install recovery for you)

after that continue with the flashing guide.

Thats only to Root and install the custom recovery, which you already did with Gingerbreak(root) and Rom Manager(Recovery).

So now you can skip to the data part.

Ok, I have been trying to run gingerbreak on my phone it said it was processing all night but when I woke up this morning it says "error code 67 unable to establish wireless data connection. Please select Update Profile to correct this problem. If the problem persists, please contat your mobile phone company" well I am trying to root this phone so that I can use the phones internet but until I get it rooted and flashed I can't connect. I know the tutorial says to use gingerbreak to root phone, does it matter that I already used z4root?

I made you a quick recovery installer for the Optimus S. Just enable usb debugging mode and click the .bat file inside the folder. ^^

Let me know if it helps you.
