Yes, in android i select factory reset, it reboots into the android recovery (3e) i goto factory reset, it shows that it formats everything and reboots. Once rebooted everything is still there, nothing has been formatted, nothing touched in any way. I went to delete groupon, it said "Uninstall Successful", rebooted, groupon was still there. Every attempt to load custom recovery has failed, every attempt to make any change at all fails. I can even plug the phone in to a PC and put files on the SD card, but once the phone reboots they are gone. I have to physically take the card out of the phone if i want to put files on it.

I've done 1 update for android. I have an update for the firmware but for some reason when it downloads the update it doesn't save it anywhere, so I can't ever update it. I went from Android 2.3.4 to 2.3.5. I can make a phone call but once i hang up the phone I get tons of force close messages to the point where "Huawei Launcher" needs to force close, forcing me to do a battery pull.

Look bro. take the battery out for 30 seconds. put it back in.do not place cover back.hold both volume buttons with two fingers. Now press power. Should be pressing three buttons now. Pink screen should pop up. Plug into computer. In a file named "image" there's "recovery.img" replace it with custom "recovery.img" pull battery out and unplug. turn on with volume up being pressed.

It's not gonna work for you. Your having the same problem as over 70 people are having. The mercury is defective that wasn't 2.3.6 when bought. I know bcz those are the main symptoms.

I guess I got lucky. I bought it when cricket stores only had 5, mercury available each. That's how expensive it was. 2.3.5 and only problem I've had is not being able to lock my phone every now and then, without phone options coming up like a hundred times.

Go to cricket store and tell them your problem. (don't mention your trying to root it)

I can't understand why cricket wouldn't have put out a recall on these phones. If for some reason they won't replace it I just waisted $250.. And based on the posts I've seen getting a replacement seems to be like pulling teeth. *sigh*.
