I had been trying for the last few days to get root... I use Linux so it shouldn't have been so hard [tho lack of sleep can effect things].

Somewhere along the line the folder's permissions got screwed up. This could have been from me trying some kind of "one click" or playing around in the GUI trying to change permissions.

The advice and read out of the permissions by s23bog on page 5 really helped awaken me as to why SU wasn't getting CHMOD'd correctly. It stayed '-rwxr-xr-x' instead of '-rwsr-sr-x' even after CHMOD. After doing 'ls -l' in the root directory I noticed that 'bin' and 'xbin' were 'root.shell' and not 'root.root'.

Let it be known that 'chown root.root bin' [and maybe 'chown root.root xbin'] followed by 'chmod 6755 bin/su' may be needed for some people.
