    Thanks for the info!

No problems here. I used a live cd with my MacBook with no issues.

According to Loggin TestApp it said CIQ was there and I removed it. Very nice!

This script should work using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

Can I do a "Privacy-Factory data reset" if I have rooted this? And if so what should i install after it resets? Superuser and "busybox"

I don't see busybox on it right now.

Wondering that myself. I know my old phone (Zio using z4 root) was still rooted afterwards.

You could umount /dev/sdc12 prior to running the script.

    sudo umount /dev/sdc12

    or everything under /media

    sudo umount /media/*

Typically, there is no problem mounting partitions more than once under Linux. Don't know why LinuxMint is being picky.

Thanks for the vid post. I never used linux before and was so lost. I still had problems at first because when I used pendrive to create the live USB I kept getting error messages. But when I used UNetbootin it worked perfectly and I used the try before install option. Also If someone out there who like me has a cricket broadband modem(which doesn't work in Linux) and no wi-fi access, before you reboot your computer download the merc-root on a separate USB drive and when you open Linux transfer the file into the download file of Ubuntu and then you can run it from there as per the rest of the instructions.

Thank you very much s23bog! Your bash-fu is strong. After not having any luck getting the /system partition to mount rw, even with a live Ubuntu distro, I tried your script on Slackware. Worked perfectly, and quickly. I think I was having 2 problems. One, putting the device in download mode before connecting, and two, trying to let the file manager mount the partitions. I just ran the script as root, in a terminal window, and pow! Rooted! Excellent job.

What steps did you take to remove CIQ?

    Question: Rooted my phone

    Used "RESET TO FACTORY"

Now I have no launcher. I did a hard reset, goes through the TOUCH HERE and then loops back to it, again no home launcher.

Anyone else successfully do a FACTORY RESET, just wondering if I'm "special"

Haven't done a reset. If you just need to get your launcher back, (probably need to do that before you can tell if there is anything else wrong), you could probably just put it in DL mode, and put it in the /app dir on the /system partition.

From Ubuntu LiveCD, you can mount system to /mnt/tmp with:
    sudo bash
    mount $(fdisk -l|egrep "/dev/sd.12"|cut -d\ -f1) /mnt/tmp

Then, you should be be able to put the home launcher of your choice with:
    cd /mnt/tmp
    wget http://<url-to-package>/<launcher.apk>

    http://61.145.124.93/soft/3GHeart/go...V2.77Beta3.apk

    wget
    http://61.145.124.93/soft/3GHeart/go...V2.77Beta3.apk

    correct?

    Yeah...that should work.

Personally, I think that Go Laumcher has way to many updates to put on the system partition (especially a beta)...but that should work.
