So earlier I installed ics on my mercury, rooted it, didnt like it, downgraded back to gingerbread... Now before I installed ics I had my phone rooted through this method just fine. Now after downgrading back to gingerbread and attempting this root method again my phone says (E:signature verification failed)(Installation aborted.) Does anyone one know how to fix this??

    I have a rooted Huawei Mercury M886 running Android v2.3.5. With CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.7

I have android adb and usb drivers installed.
The Mercury shows online status for adb devices (10C61FFF5C50 device).

I want to make sure the Oriax123 un-root method will work for my rooted CWM Mercury.
Will the un-root work for my phone?

If the unroot zip isn't working then you may want to invest in the pro version of SU or supersu and use the unroot option in the app (I can't remember if the normal SU has this option but I know supersu pro does) Then you can put the stock recovery on the phone in download mode and try the update again. Also there is a thread around here somewhere with a stock gingerbread update.app that some had to flash when they weren't able to do the ota.
BTW what gb version are you on and what's the date of the ota?

Use this to get back on complete stock gingerbread, http://www.cricketusers.com/cricket-...tructions.html

After that you can do ota's and what not or just upgrade to ICS here:http://www.cricketusers.com/cricket-...s-install.html

Thanks so much, your fast root method did work, I think. I've rooted several of my phones so i got the basic concept down. So the knowledge does come in handy. However, all phones are different and how to root, while one method can work on one phone and the same method does not work on the other. It definitely can be confusing at times. I had the Huawei Ascend 2 not to long ago, but it was not working the way i wanted it to, so my sweet daughter went out and bought me a Huawei Mercury, and in my opinion way better phone in every way. It took me like days to try to find a rooting method for the A2 because of the update cricket had put on it it would not take to most rooting methods. Finallly i had to really search around like i said for days and finally found a superoneclick method i think that's what it was called and that was the only rooting method that phone would take to. But i had to work at it for hours. I don't know that phone was the biggest pain in the ass ever. The Mercury is so easy to root. It took me 5 minutes with your easy fast root That has to be one of the easiest phones to root, and on top of that its an very awesome phone. Its fast.
I am crazy about ICS 10.1 and up. I love that sleek notification pull down bar and am hoping they find someone who wants to work on it for the mercury. Otherwise i wouldn't even bother rooting my phones at all. That ice and Jellybean rom's are the best ever made. They accommodate all your needs in every way possible, no matter what the situation is, that rom has something for everyone.
Also, if there is anyone out there that knows of ICS or Jellybean for the mercury please let me know right away. I am looking for ICS 10.1 at least. I would really be grateful of that!
