    Thanks for the prompt reply!

This rooting wouldn't downgrade my Android 4 to older version, would it? Pardon this novice.

Hi, I had successfully installed the custom recovery. But after I copied FastRoot.v3.Zip to my SDCARD and clicked on it, an Open With... dialog popped out, asking me if I wanted to (1) Archive preview, (2) ES Zip Viewer, (3) Extract file.

What should I do? It is not the same as your instruction: 3. Choose "choose zip from sdcard".

    Please advise. Thanks again.

forgot to mention: I use ES File Explorer.

When I tried File Manager, it just opened the zip file and showed the content of the archive.

It doesn't say to open the file. It says to reboot into recovery. Do that ok. Then you'll find the options posted on the first post.

I finally realised I had to go through the Recovery process menu, and installed the EastRoot.V3.Zip. The script said it's rooted. But after I backed out from the menu and chose System Reboot, the rebooted system still has No Root.

I used Term Emulator and type SU, the return message was Permission Denied. The Root Check app also says the same.

Is it because mine is a stock Android 4.0 Honor?

no, it shouldnt matter what firmware your on. there was no superuser app in your drawer? If there isnt try doing it again but this time mount /system in "mounts and storage" under recovery then flash the zip.

No superuser app in the list.

OK, I did the Mount /system then re-flashed the zip. Same result: No Root after reboot.

    Thanks.

You said you had the honor correct? I saw few root tutorials for it on Google. I'm guessing it only works on gingerbread.

Yes, it's a brand new Honor from China with Android 4.0 already installed.

    Good exercise, no matter what.

Appreciate your assistance immensely, my friend.

I'll monitor this forum for updates. Hopefully there's a "cure".

I had googled a little and found a thread about Honor rooting. It suggested to use su-3.0.3.2-signed.zip, available on mediafile.com.

I used it, and now I'm rooted!!!

Thanks for everything, nonetheless. Without coming here, I wouldn't have had the confidence to go into the Recovery menu.
