    Ice Cream Sandwich Root

First of all I did not create this. I found it while working on the c886 rom. It was made for the U886 but also works beautifully on the Mercury :-D I've installed it on two mercs without issue.

    MAD PROPS GO OUT TO:

tri_zet for Huawei Honor Root tools (this package)
    saurik for mempodroid
    wraithdu for su binary fix
    FeodoR & V_P_Za

Thanks for all your hard work guys!

    How To:

    1. Install ADB Drivers. They're on the phone here when you first plug in usb.

    1.jpg

    2. Uncompress the rar file with Winrar.
    3. Enable ADB debugging (system settings/developer options)
    4. Run "root-me"
    5. Reboot phone

I've made a self extracting installer which can be found
    here

    .
It adds a desktop shortcut and helps ensure that Huawei Honor Root Tools is installed in a proper file path.

Have you tried the original method?

I keep getting 'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I tried resinstalling adb driver already. Just to be clear, is that found in CD Drive Mobile Partner/drivers/adb_driver/Handset WinDriver?

You are correct. Try extracting it to a shorter file path (like c:\adb) and see if that helps.

*noob question* but I'm not used to rooting via the computer (I used oriaxs quick root method originally) so how do I install the Adb drivers? Is there any way you could post more pictures with the instructions??

I wouldn't mess with it. I've tried two copies of CWM and it will brick the phone. Editing the files in /.cust_backup is the same as changing the files in DM under 2.3.6. I've edited cust.img to remove file manager and books but the recovery.img file is using some kind of validation. Reflashing with DM does bring the phone back if you want to try your luck.

Hmmm. I've got the drivers installed successfully, I have USB debugging enabled, and I've connected USB. When I run root-me, however, it gives me that message: 'adb' is not recognized... and then it says -rooting finish. -reboot your device. It's not rooted when I reboot though. IDK.

    ***EDIT***

I'm an idiot, I was trying to run root-me from the rar file without uncompressing. Everything is working fine now. Thanks!

No problem. All you need to do is hook your phone up to your computer. Open "My computer" (pre Windows 7) or Computer (Windows 7/8) and click this icon.

    icon.jpg

Go into that virtual cd rom and then

    dr.jpg

    then

    adb.jpg

    and lastly

    hand.jpg

This will install the adb drivers.

Next after installing Winrar extract the rar file by right clicking and choosing extract to .......

    extract.jpg

go into the folder it just created and run "root-me"

    rm.jpg

When that finishes reboot the phone and you should be good to go!
