Tried flashing it through fastboot but got an error stating that the command was not allowed. I then rooted ICS and installed CWM; tried installing the recovery to no avail. So now I'm stuck and don't know what else to do. Also, I boot the phone into download mode and the pc will not recognize the drive; I look under device manager and see a question mark over the potential drive, I guess. Don't know what else to do but I really wanted to try ICS and am currently regretting it. I have a stock backup of my phone but can't install it. Please help.
Do you still have the dload folder on the root of your sd card? if not find a way to put it on the sd card, then press vol up, vol down, and power and it should reflash the update to your phone. If that does not work there are instructions to downgrade your phone from ics back to stock gingerbread here: http://www.cricketusers.com/cricket-...tructions.html

    Hope that helps :-)

if you have the dload folder inside of your sd card then the pink screen should be replaced with updating to ics. when i tried at least that's what happened.

before you connect your phone to the computer make sure you change the USB mode to "NORMAL" to do this:
    1. type *#*#2846579#*#*
    2.select projectmenu
    3.background settings
    4.usb port settings
5.select Normal mode, and reboot phone.
6.Connect phone to computer and start Cricket PST 1.0
7.Make sure you select the Mercury from the drop down box
Once phone shows up on the port (top left) go over the S/W Update tab and click MULTIPLE.
Click on Firmware check box, and find your UPDATE.APP software (needs to be already extracted)
Click on SCAN PORT, make sure phone shows up, then click RUN,
PST TOOL will put your phone in download mode, and just let it write. ***keep in mind phone will power cycle a few times after it's complete, don't worry, its normal***
At the end you should have the pink screen with the words OK.
at this time do a batt pull then power back the phone. ENJOY.
I'm gonna add this to the tutorial as an alternate install method. Thanks!

    yes
that is how i do the updates i have been doing

i have been reading up on all the problems everyone else has been having with this update, and i have to ask, what exactly are you guys doing different from me that i havent heard nor seen any issues?

Wife's Merc was 2.3.6 rooted with Revokster ROM, no bloatware. Updated about 1/2 an hour after the original links were put up and neither one of us have seen any issues with her phone.

I haven't had any customers complain about their updates either, they might call me about certain features, but have yet to say anything was wrong.

I've been wondering the same thing honestly, all i've had is a few apps just randomly close on me shortly after them opening, or firefox crashing, but besides that everythings been smooth. my favorite feature is actually the sms application. it's running just beautifully.

Idk... I kinda wanna try it for fun but its my only phone. And I just read in an other thread that cricket is not carring the merc anymore. Thats gonna really piss me off considering I paid 280$ for it in Feb. Is the risk involved worth it and is there a way to make a custom recovery? Also I am not rooted.

they are $180 now, i will have to read that other thread you mentioned

personally i have yet to find an issue, but as posted in a few threads, some people do, so it would actually depend on how comfortable you are with the possibility of messing up your phone. apparently there is a way to go back to stock if things dont go right.

boils down to - personal preferrence and how well you follow directions

Yeah, i guess it depends on how it's worded. If someone says, "check out the op for more." That tells me, the original post. If someone says, "check out what the op said earlier." That tells me the original poster. So, we're probably both correct.

Let's call OP this: Original Post/er
That ought to work well worth the masses.
