    Install zarchive from Google play
Extract dload folder per original post
Let you phone unpack and use your computer for somethi.g else.

ESArchive wont do it. Zarchive worked first try. No computer needed

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for this awesome ICS. I have two Mercs, one stock and one running the revokster rom - both took the upgrade without any issue. I have to agree with the complaint a lot of people are having, which is that it's a little laggy. Other than that, the only actual "problem" i've found is that Flash isn't supported (though reading through the internet, this is a ICS bug and not related to this specific update). The only time this has actually stopped me from doing anything is playing Rage of Bahamut, a popular game, which is written in flash. The whole rest of the game works, just not the flash battle stuff.

Anyways, ICS installs and runs just fine for me and both my Mercs. I'm going to downgrade back to GB on at least one I think though.
I did the entire upgrade to ICS without a computer, minus root, which requires one, lol.

    Thanks again to everyone involved!!

    1. download the encrpyted .rar file to your phone
    2. download an app from the Google Play Store that can open it, i tried a few before i got it to work, but the post directly above mine by decepticonvisuals has one listed by name.
    2. extract dload, move it to the root of the sd card, i used file manager (stock).
    3. go into software whatever and run the update, few reboots later, you have ICS.

If you want to root ICS you need a pc, i just did the root and its not liking it, keeps denying apps.

zArchive worked perfect. Any other program that can open pass protected rar file should work.

Try permission whatever with supercharger or ROM manager or equivalent app for rooted devices.

I had already installed SU and SU Elite before running the root-me so when it rooted my phone it was all conflicted. I got it working, just removed all my SU stuff and then ran root-me again, works like a charm. Though I've downgraded back to GB now, seems lightning fast after using ICS lol.

I know people have mentioned some flaws with 3g coming in and out, but I have no service. as in nothing. I can jump on to wifi, but I cannot even *228 anything, because of the "no service" deal. Any ideas as to why? would you think if I downgraded back to gingerbread, it could come back up?

When I first got my merc from cricket, It stopped working in that same manner after having it for 2 weeks. Wifi would work but I never had service again no matter how many times I flashed it. I was only using GB cuz ICS wasn't out yet. Had to have it replaced. Hope yours isn't as toast as mine was.. good luck.

My Mercury did the same thing. It also ended up being replaced. Cricket corporate was helpful; they tested i out and determined to be bad and replaced it. I bought two when they first came out. I dare say the first batch was bad. Mine had the connectivity issue and my wife's rebooted continuously. After the replacements, we have been happy campers.

No, your phone does not need to be rooted. Are you trying to apply the update with the recovery, or are you actually doing it through your phone settings?

Maybe you got a corrupted version of the file, and need to re-download it.

Make sure you are applying the update by going to settings>storage>apply update from sd card. Your phone should reboot a couple of times and you will see it installing stuff, and etc. Then when it reboots the final time, it will be running on ICS.
