Yes, I had problems with "No service" for hours then full service for hours, all while just staying put where I was at. It started right after first unboxing it. Took it back and they "fixed" it, and only thing I noticed they did was maybe downgrade the firmware maybe? But didn't have anymore problems.

I upgraded to ice cream sandwich using this method, it worked fine, looked beautiful, but I had no service for hours I has it up. Downgraded using method shown here, still no service. Put custom recovery back on, flashed my nandroid from before update, no service. Had to restore backup from before 7-13-12 firmware update to get the phone running full service again.

Does this completely render me not being able to use ICS? If so that sucks. Is there anything I can try, maybe something I'm missing to get full service? Even 1x, 1 bar is better than zero of both.

Try dialing *228 first. If no luck then go into recovery and wipe partition cache.

I'm hesitant about doing this. I have the first Mercury released in December, never updated anything (besides apps in the market/play). Aside from a few reboots, which will happen with any Android, I've never had a single problem.

My question is: What would Salas do? ....Since I know he got his phone at the same time and never had issues or did updates.

The only plus I see is the ability in ICS to block apps and limit traffic. However, I use DroidWall and ROM ToolBox to ensure I'm in control. ICS will use more battery and memory. Sure we have a 1.4GHz CPU, but it's not dual-core like the newer phones.

Also, I didn't pay my bill, I use Wifi, GoogleVoice, and GrooVe IP to make/receive calls. I wouldn't be able to *228 or even make a test call. Since Data is off I don't know if I should update til I pay them.... or do a bridge request ;]

Already comes with ICS as stated on Radio Shack's website.

The Ice is the same exact phone, just white. Still a VGA FFC. Comes with a 8GB SDcard though, better then 2GB for all that free unlimited Muve music your gonna download.... lol.

People don't seem to understand that this ICS IS the one installed on the Radio Shack mercs.
