    Tried that.

Tried it again and it only reboots. I really want to get this running. Any other ideas?

Pull the battery, and when you put it back in, hold the volume up, down and power buttons. Let me know what happens

Nah. That's putting it into download mode. You gotta have fast boot off before you do it or else it'll just boot normally.

    Installing the update.

Here's what seemed to work; it's installing now. I was using Vista 64 bit (that could have been it), so I decided to try my other pc with win 7 64. I installed the diag drivers and loaded the Cricket PST software. It recognized my phone, put it in download mode and is installing at this time. I don't understand why it wouldn't do it automatically though. The phone was rooted and had a cwm but I restored the non-rooted rom and also went back to the original recovery to no avail. This, however, seems to have done it for now. Will keep you posted.

Ok, so here are the four possible power-ups:
    1)vol up+power=recovery mode
    2)vol down + power = fast boot
3)vol up and down+power=pink screen (download mode)
    4)power= well, power.

    Hope that helps :-)

I'm having no luck so far. i moved the update file over to my sd card in the dload folder, go to the proper location in settings to do a software upgrade from storage and i am getting a popup dialog that says "The key data cannot be backed up. Thus, the upgrade cannot proceed" im not sure wat this is all about? I'm trying the d/load links from the original post to see if maybe it's the file. anyone had this error?

Edit, figured it out. i had a 3rd party rom installed when i first tried. i used recovery to flash back my backup stock rom, reran the software update from sd card and it's installing now

In ICS you are using both cards. A 2GB Internal and up to 32GB External

in order to unzip you will need either 7-zip, winrar, or another various extraction program capable of unzipping rar files.

    Password to unzip is mercury

Just scroll to the bottom where it says "slow download" and select that.

    1. After extracting the folder "dload", place it in the sd card.
    2. Once the sd card is inserted in the phone, go to system settings --> Storage --> Software Upgrade --> Upgrade via SD card.
    3. The upgrade process will take about 20 mins.

DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER OF YOUR DEVICE DURING THIS UPGRADE!
It will appear to be going very slowly and will reboot multiple times, do NOT panic as this is part of the install procedure. It took my phone approx 20-30 mins to finish installing the entire update. If you get stuck feel free to ask questions. No one wants a broken phone.
This worked just fine.. I had stock rom wit cwm and bloatware removed. Those steps went smoothly. And It did restart multiple times. And took about 20 mins. All this on my first try. I even went back to Ginger bread backup because i forgot to back up my texts. And came back to ICS and restored my text msgs in ICS..
So far running smooth. Only one question.. How to make apps install to sd rather than on phone? Or is that not an option?

Loved the interface but having a lot of connectivity issues

Well the ICS installed but today, I had today I had tons of problems with my phone. Wouldn't connect online, couldn't make calls, nor texts; so wanted to go back to my previous android and it can't manage to do it. I don't have CWM installed since there's a new recovery. Tried flashing it through fastboot but got an error stating that the command was not allowed. I then rooted ICS and installed CWM; tried installing the recovery to no avail. So now I'm stuck and don't know what else to do. Also, I boot the phone into download mode and the pc will not recognize the drive; I look under device manager and see a question mark over the potential drive, I guess. Don't know what else to do but I really wanted to try ICS and am currently regretting it. I have a stock backup of my phone but can't install it. Please help.

If you put in in download mode (volume up + down & power button) it won't reflash the update? Hmm.. well, there's a ICS to Gingerbread thread...

Have anyone noticed that the newer people who have installed ICS update are having more and more problems? or is it just me?
