Latest I hear is the network is being upgraded/tweaked/adjusted to increase available bandwidth. This may result in the ability to raise the cap at some future date. Let's hope.

Short answer is using your smartphone as a modem for your computer via the phone's built it wifi connection.

It is relatively easy to detect if they choose to do so, by inspecting your packets (data) being transfered. Then they just shut your data pipe and redirect you to a webpage offering you to sign up...there has already been people complaining on Crickets Facebook page that this was done to them and they were informed that they were in violation of the service agreement and they need to pay an additional $10 a month or face account termination if they don't cease. I don't tether and don't plan to, as there always seems to be WiFi around somewhere, at least where I travel. LOL

As to how credible the person complaining is, I don't know. But she did seem pretty darned ticked off about it...LOL

Matter of fact the Cricket Facebook page must be a virtual nightmare for their marketing people, as it seems more than 75% of the posts are displeased customers. They do try to address what they can, to their credit, but still new customers seeing all that....must think twice...LOL

Well that could be viewed either way. LOL Leaving the comments there they are either saying "We are commited and we try to tackle our customers problems head on!" Or "We could really give a rats ass if you want to complain about our service!" (but as I said, I do give them credit in that they do try to address many of the issues or point the people in the right direction)

Personally I would be redirecting them to a support forum where they can get personalized help with their problem. =)

I've had several, but for the most part I have been able to get them worked out. (at least on the Cricket corporate side of things) Overall I am satisfied, but truth be known their customer service could be better all the way around.

okay lets say i have custom fw and i use a tethering app, not the phones tethering capbility, i still don't see how they could find out with packages as you say. that would take lots of monitering on there part unless they have programs that are designed for it

Dont know if the Merc will have tether built in. I'll check into it. Fact is thought there are other ways that dont cost 10 bucks.
