AT&T In Talks To Buy Cricket Wireless? | TFTS

but i dout this is the reason! But maybe the logger is to see y the devices are going all haywire the past few months so they can have a perm fix for it!
That could well be as after one day of perfect behavior with my Merc, I now receive "Error 98" error Unable to connect to the Network. That is whebn I use their now expedited bootup. Interestingly enough, if I then take their "Restart" Option, it takes a few minutes to boot up using the same sequence as of old, then I get proper connectivity. I will also at random times during the day if on 3G, get the Error 98, but my WiFi connection at home connects solidly so far. Jesus Marimba! I hope this is not typical of this Android technology. Cricket/Huawei seem to be a rocky road to run on.......

Still having the same problem I did with the last update that would never install. Fails on Email.apk. The version Email.apk reports is 2.3.4. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Should it be 2.3.5?

    EDIT:

Lucky me. Because it won't update the firmware, and the MMS issue, they're going to replace my phone under warranty.

Hey now! I've been away for a week and I'm glad to see that there is some action going on. Major props to NubCake and Oriax for breaking down the details on this update!

Seeing this really scares me. I haven't updated anything since I bought the phone 2 days after Christmas. I have apps like "OnlineUpdate" and other Cricket/Huawei junk frozen and/or blocked from internet access. I only use GoSwitch Widget and the GoogleVoice Widget.

So right now I have a sneaky feeling that this update will kill my phone that has been working flawlessly since day one. I will wait a while to see what happens.

Hopefully we can just get just the Huawei fix to push manually without having to do anything else like removing CWM and downloading OTA updates.

Let's keep in mind that companies have been known to use many different tactics when trying to get customers to "upgrade". How many times have we all been duped into updated something only to find out later that it's really a "downgrade".

I'll be the first to admit I don't really trust Cricket when it comes to anything anymore, they seem to think keeping their customer in the dark about everything from possible ICS updates to the mystery of what exactly are in these "updates" or what data is being gathered from CIQ. It should be sent in an email not buried in some obscure corner of the internet if at all.

In my experience, there's usually only one reason companies don't tell you when they're doing something...and it aint because it's good.

Cunning, I totally agree with you 100%. But remember, Cicket is NOT the only cellphone company using CIQ! The big companies were the ones to get outed first.

It's Huawei I'm more concerned about. If you do some Googling, apparently in the past they have refused letting officials in to their factories to observe work conditions and to see if they are using technology to spy on other countries. They also use CIQ in their telecom switches in the UK, where they are a more "known name" in the telecom industry.

CIQ should be shut down, but you know that the CIA has it's hands in it.... just like Facebook.

This is so 1984!!! (1984: A book by George Orwell where the Government constantly watches and controls everyone and everything.)

They didn't. I did get a refurbished phone, with the latest update already installed.

My phone sent the message wanting to update the firmware tonight but I'm holding out after all the problems the last Cricket update gave me. I don't want to mess up my phone now that I have it working great with revokster and root. The funny thing is I would have never rooted it and tried custom ROMs until the MUVE music update basically crippled my last phone. I think I had to pay $40 or $50 to exchange my last phone for a new one
