    I am running a Oriax's custom ROM and I can't do the firmware update and from what I am hearing, I shouldn't waste my time. I didn't do the last software update either and never had any issues. I have only received one message about the mandatory update. My wife has an unrooted Mercury and she did the last software update and wasn't able to send MMS over WiFi, she had to disable WiFi and switch to data to send the picture. She just did the Firmware update and is still having the same issue. I don't think I am going to do the update. I have had my Mercury rooted since I bought it 2 months ago and haven't had any issues with anything. I am sticking with what I have unless the phone starts going all crazy on me.

    I read everyone's post here about the new update. I never did the software update to Muve. It's pointless. That's what the SD card is to hold all your music. But I am going to see what the updated firmware is. I have noticed I"ve had drops in the 3G on a daily basis. It just suddenly stops working; MMS works fine, but I did NOT do the 1st update. My Merc seems to be a memory hog, can't do much without it lagging really bad.

    I've thought about rooting the phone, but I don't know the first thing about doing that, I just know I want to get rid of all the stock apps.

    doh. firmware update installed muve, google books, google messenger, google plus, google music, google videos. .....Yes mandatory it was.......*sigh* I didn't need any of those apps and now I can't uninstall any of em!

    Basically this is what it does (reason why it wont install correctly)

    1.Checks device if its on 2.3.6 if not, it will fail

    Looks like it may download a different version, depending on what build you have. From the update.zip I got..

    Code:
    ui_print("Now hota starting...");
    ui_print("Verifying current system...");
    assert(file_getprop("/system/build.prop", "ro.build.fingerprint") == "Huawei/M886/hwm886:2.3.5/HuaweiM886/C153B861SP05:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys" ||

    ui_print("Checking patch files...");
    My 2.3.5 build is C153B861SP05.

    Nope. I checked system update, there was nothing. The update was located in firmware. >:

    I must have missed the part about 2 updates. Really not sure I want to update at this point. CIQ logging, MMS issues, which seem to have popped up for me too..

    i just testes mms on a non mercury device and i can send and receive with wifi on and off! i even sent a 2mb phone uncompressed with htc 3d mms mod with no problems even when flashing instructions suggest 500k, so size does not matter (LADYS ^_-) but yea. . . . im starting to think the updates arent part of the problem... just the device itself

    I would have to disagree with you nubcake, I seriously doubt that my wifes phone would all of a sudden stop sending mms over wifi at the exact same time she did the original software update, i think it has to do with the original software update people did

    Talk to Oriax123, he has a pretty good ROM, and is the easiest to use, if you go back through this forum he might have the zip somewhere, its called fastroot.zip, if you can't find it, PM him and ask if he will post it again

    I kept getting a firmware error. Why? It keeps crashing.
