    ICS Mercury?

Anyone know if the Mercury will be updated to ICS? I know there's no root available yet (Dammit, Cricket stop putting in the stupid demo bloatware games already), I'm waiting awhile before I buy the phone and would much rather have 4.0 on my next new phone.

I personally don't think Cricket will push the update, but I do think a ROM will come out sooner or later putting ICS on it..

In the mean time I guess I'll stick with my Ascend II and the ICS theme stuff on it.

Supposedly it will update to ICS but the links to upgrade the Honor to ICS will not work on the Mercury. Huawei since then has taken down the ICS file from their website.

Huawei sux at complying with the GPL lol

And no the update or sw in general wouldnt work w/o editing n modding it to work on the mercury. Prolly would boot but not have any services lol.

Actually, Android is largely released under the Apache license, not GPL.

Actually it is up to Cricket. If they don't want to push an update to THEIR phones through THEIR network, they don't have to. The Ascend 1 is a perfect example. It was updated to 2.2 and Metropcs pushed the update, but Cricket didn't.

I think they will do the ICS update though. Only time will tell though.

According to a store manager in a corporate owned store in Utah, ICS will be put on in mercury around Q2 sometime. He claims that they are working out bugs not only in the OS but also the network. I hope they do, I think it would be a great move for Cricket to show they are serious about android and competing with the big crooks in cell land.
