    Multiple Messages

Is anyone else getting multiple messages from the same person at the same time. Like for example I text my husband and his response are like repeated 4 times or more.

he has a mercury as well? It is the issue on the sender's side, not the receiver's.
If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?

Well the way sms works, is a user (sender) sends the info through SMSC, then it goes to the tower, and tower sends it as a packet to your phone. Your phone cannot initiate the reception by itself. So it is either the sender's phone which is sending the data several times, or the tower, which after the reception of the information, thinks that you have not received the info, and resends it. Makes sense?

This happened to me with my ex. A few months ago. She had a cricket Huawei ascend 2, I had a straight talk LG optimus q. It happened all the time, she would text, I'd get 2 to 4 of them. I would guess it's a cricket thing, and since mine was not a cricket, I'd also guess it is an error from the senders side.

Don't know. I just got used to it. You could try taking it up with cricket, but I doubt they'd be much help.

I guess it depends on your area, try updating the roaming capabilities " dial *228"

Do you have google voice forwarding service? If yes, then check your settings there.

I believe it's a cricket thing, probably a tower resend issue, I have been using cricket going on 3 years now, and my girlfriend through that time, has been on Verizon, t Mobil, and cricket and it has happened all the time, most often with short texts that are only a few words or smilies. Like someone else said it's just something you get used to on cricket

It's not just a cricket problem as I've seen it happen with sprint phones also.

The magic 8-ball says...signs point to Cricket. I'm receiving multiple copies of sender's texts who are on different networks. AT&T, Verizon that I know of. I prefer this to what it used to be. I remember when MY text messages that I sent were being delivered multiple times to my friends. If it's my carrier's problem, I don't want my friends being inconvenienced. I don't mind as much if I am since I know there's a problem. Of course...I still mind. And I've done the *228 multiple times since it started since I've been in KY and Chicago and everywhere in between.
