    Multitasking on the Mercury.

Hello, I was just wondering if any of you guys are playing games on your Mercury. I'm an avid gamer, and I'm playing Modern Combat 4 and a few others. They run awesome on my phone, but I can't stand the in-game music, so I like to have my winamp running in the background while the game music is turned down.

So, what I do is make a playlist and put it on shuffle and then start the game. But after one song, winamp shuts down. No FC, it just closes. So, if anyone knows why and might use a different player that doesn't do this, I would appreciate the help.

Winamp is using about 20 - 23 MB at any one time, but I've always loved using it because the sound is awesome especially with the EQ.

    Re: Multitasking on the Mercury.

Do you know of a player that uses less memory than Winamp, and still has EQ for great sound? I had beats audio on this the other day, but hosed my phone. So it was a chore to get my phone working. I would rather mess with an EQ than beats audio, and I've had Winamp sounding great for a long time anyway. But its somewhat of a memory hog. Does Poweramp use much? Or can anyone recommend one? The stock ones are crap, at least for my taste.

There's a free app called equalizer that sounds pretty good with the stock music player. It also works with Pandora or whatever you are listening to, not just music on your SD card. Give it a try.

As far as an EQ, you could try DSP Manager. It's a third-party APK from Cyanogenmod, I really prefer the results. I don't game much so I couldn't answer as far as background play, but Doubletwist is a great media player.

    Re: Multitasking on the Mercury.

I was using DSP manager that was included with the Revokster Rom, I believe. It constantly FC'd though. Tried everything recommended to fix it with no luck. I just grabbed doubletwist so I'm checking that out now.

I'm also trying Rocketplayer right now and it seems good, although there appears to be distortion on the lows I think. I'm sure it's just a setting I need to mess with.

So I'll test doubletwist next. Thanks for the tip.

Try searching XDA forums for the DSP Manager APK, I haven't had any issues with it. I noticed a solid difference between DSP and the DTS included in the mercury.
