Do the headphones/earphones have a mic on them?

I'm guessing when you plug into the jack it assumes you have a mic built into the headphones and cuts off the phone's external mic.

I bought a pair of bluetooth headphones with built in mic from Amazon for about $23 and they work great. The sound quality is better than I expected and they last all day on a single charge. Call quality is excellent. Just wish they were a little smaller.

Your phone will not allow this. You will need headphones with a mic in order to be heard, stop by and support your local dealer and purchase a pair :-)

Motorola hd 9 Bluetooth headphones is what i use. they last all day and have awesome hd sound and voice. as well as several control features built into the small ear pieces . they are around 50.00 on amazon.Mine are over a year old so im guessing there is a newer model for about the same price ..

Just checked out the Motorola HD 10s and they're just what I was looking for. I remember looking at these a while back but didn't realize they had the mic built in otherwise I probably would have bought them.

If the call quality if decent and I'll be happy.
