worth skipping mercury and waiting for next greatest? batt life compared to Vitality?

i just got the samsung vitality on a free dealer line. it's rooted and runs fine. sure it's not SUPER quick, but it doesn't LAG at all either...

I feel for the people who got ascend 1 or ZIO...lord, especially the ZIO.

I work for cricket and have a free line for this Samsung Vitality. My wife has a flashed HTC EVO and it seems to have better reception in my apartment by far than this Vitality. Another cricket manager says he agrees that flashed phones seem to have better reception. What gives? I get dropped calls and bad coverage inside stores like Target also and sometimes when I'm out driving. To the point where my voicemails can't be understood sometimes. It's understandable but unfortunate that with dealer lines you can't use flashed phones :P

I'm wondering if this Mercury could possibly have better reception......although doubtful and how will the battery life compare? I know it's 1930mAh, but it also has almost 2x as fast of a processor. The Vitality seems to be just like other android phones...don't last quite a day of full use.

My friend's Verizon Rezound phone which is a dual core phone--he says it lasts all day even with 4G on. So, with this faster processor, perhaps it'll use up less of the battery?

My biggest gripe about the Vitality is only 128mb built in memory....needs to be at very least 256 or else you are limited to the number of apps you can have on the phone (even if you move all possible apps to the SD card).

For me it'd be about $150 to upgrade to the Mercury since i got the vitality for $100 and could sell easily for at least that much.

I am guessing that within the next 3-4 months there'll be a better phone. I wouldn't go with a ZTE one, but Samsung will probably join the higher end Cricket handset game...

A couple better features on the mercury could be Ice cream sandwich OS, dedicated camera button, better front facing camera.. and built in FM tuner app.

This phone will inevitably have about a $50 rebate within a couple months.

well, it's definitely nicer than the vitality. way more memory and super super smooth.

It's not like I want a gaming device, though. I'll wait to get a Playstation Vita for gaming ;D

I'm sure DX is great.. Do you think I should overclock my Vitality? What would be pretty safe overclock? stock is 800mhz.

I think i'll just end up waiting for the next greatest phone.

If you got the Huawei Mercury, would you be happy with it, or would you be upset when a 4G Android device comes out next year? It might be a long wait for a 4G device, but you don't want to regret upgrading to the Huawei Mercury.

I would say get the Huawei Mercury, but don't rush it. You just got the Vitality, and the Mercury just came out. Give it a little time. Maybe there will be a good promotion on the Mercury in a few months. You can also wait and see some of the reviews on the Huawei Mercury.

Regardless of your decision, there will always be another "better" phone coming out a few months later. You can buy the Mercury today, right after it came out, and there will still be a better phone coming out the next year. That's just the way it is.

If you're not looking for the best technology, you should be fine with the Vitality, but you're already talking about overclocking it, which makes me think you do want the "top of the line" phone.

I've used the Vitality and it seems great with the 800 Mhz processor. If you need a lot more power than that, I would go for the Huawei Mercury.

If you're happy with your Vitality, I would keep it for awhile. I'm still using a flashed and rooted Samsung Moment, which is pretty similar to the transfix/vitality. (At least in terms of processing power and Memory.) It's still working great for me. Granted, I am overclocked and am using a custom ROM, but it's still good enough for everything I do. I'm actually thinking about getting a Mercury for myself, though, as my Moment is getting old and a little sketchy with GPS and battery life.

i just discovered go launcher ex....and there is tons of eye candy there and i think i was digging that the most from the Mercury. Turns out 800mhz vitality can handle that eye candy with ease. By the way, I couldn't find an app that works for overclocking the vitality..not that it really needs the overclock.

I didn't realize Cricket was coming out with 4G. let's hope they improve their cellular coverage first before they do that (although it has improved a lot)

Thanks for helping me with this decision. It'll make it easier for me to pay $250 for the launch ps vita
