In order to flash, Do i need an account first?

Hi I read the guide, and I watched the video. My one question before I make the attempt to flash my Evo Shift to the Cricket service is, Do I need an account with cricket first? I've read somewhere that I can simply "flash" my Phone to cricket and then activate it on the service then receive my new Phone number?

I'm asking this because I currently don't have a Cricket phone or account and was hoping I can simply Flash my Evo Shift first before I had to activate. Please tell me if my method is possible, or if I have to go buy a new cricket phone first and set up an account?

    Thank you

You would have to get a account andphone number first..If you flash you will need a MDN and Min
to flash to the phone..When you get a number ask for you Min as well..Then flash all the info to the phone
then add the esn to your account..

It would be a better use of your time

Start your account then do your flash so you can verify what you have done is working, plus when you make your edits you will need your account info. No sense in flashing twice if not necessary (did it wrong the first time).

Just call Get a Number ..Give them your esn from your shift..Than ask for you Min ...Then tell them you are going to provision your phone yourself..Just make sure they have your esn on your new account..

Hi I called Cricket earlier today to try to set my Shift up. I gave them the ESN number to my Shift and then they told me my phone has to be flashed first to Cricket in order to activate it. But then I come back here and they tell me I to activate an account first with the ESN number from my Shift before it's possible to flash to the Cricket Service... So am I missing something? I was planning on calling Cricket, Giving them my Esn, Paying the 45 dollars with a credit card, Getting my new phone number, Then Flash my Shift to Cricket with my new number...
