Please, I'm new here so let me get this straight. I have a sprint htc evo 4g. I want to get it flashed to Cricket but I don't have a cricket account. My question is do I need an account first? and if so how do I go about getting one on my evo if it isn't flashed over to Cricket in the first place.

Flashing your phone many times so it works on diff carriers and with diff roms is the same as changing your PC from XP to Windows 7 to DOS to linux to Win 7 to XP to Win 98 to whatever. You can do it as much as you like. But your PC isnt going to be connected to the world if you dont have an ISP account set up and paid for. And your flashed phone wont either until an account is setup for it.

The reason I'm asking is there is so much misinformation out there. When researching other sites and tutorials some say not to flash your phone unless you already have a Cricket account, but how can you without having a phone that will work in the first place, hence my dilemma. Thanks for your advice, I'm taking it to mean first flash the phone, then contact Cricket to set up the account.

    Thanks

This is how it use to be at least. If you walked into a Cricket corporate store and said you wanted a new account with a non Cricket phone, they would ask you if it was flashed. I don't really consider a phone flashed until it is programmed with the correct account information and working. They sometimes consider flashed as having a Cricket PRL and capable of OTA programming (*228). This is probably because they will only guarantee that talk and text will work.

When I started my first Cricket account, I went to an authorized dealer and told them I was going to flash the phone myself. They said okay and gave me my MDN (mobile directory number aka phone number) and MIN. This is why I sometimes refer people to authorized dealer vs corporate. You can get it done at corporate though. Tell them you know how to flash the device and aren't going to come back to them like thousands of people do blaming them because you or your buddy can't flash the phone. Most of t

Most of these Cricket sucks sob stories are probably due to user error in my opinion. It's great that I can say that. I have never worked for Cricket and never will unless by a miracle of God, someone wants to invite me to San Diego to give them ideas of how they could improve themselves.
