    3/4/2014 The fate of CricketUsers..??

So what will, should, could happen to this website? We still have a year before cricket CDMA goes away. So what are Chris's site plans after that happens? Maybe he will say it was a good run and its time to close it and move on. (Or will he convert it to GSM and still provide support?)

First to say, thanks Chris and everyone else here for the CricketUsers memories.

Cricket isn't going anywhere anytime soon. So the website probably is going to stay alive for while.

Yea, but the questions were about what happens a year from now. Any opinion on that?

I disagree. Cricket as a company is going away. It will now be a second rate subsidiary of AT&T. Cricket's CDMA network will be dismantled.

The more important question is what people need to do now to protect ourselves against AT&T making our current phone's valueless. I suggest we make complaints to the FCC asking for monetary compensation for our phones or free replacements. The FCC has the power to do this, and complaints can be made here:

While talking to the saleslady from Cricket, she mentioned that after all of the changes click in, Cricket will no longer activate flashed phones. Which makes sense, kind of, since the new Cricket will be GSM, but what about unlocked phones from other wireless phone providers?

Thank you for those who have supported me and my site. Wiseoldman made tons of monetary contributions and posts on the site. Indica has lent assistance as well. There are a number of people who have come and gone. I miss Woof being around here as well.

Please help me decide the fate of the site. As I was going through an awful divorce a few years back, the site was my only income. I was supposed to go back to college after the military, but I lost some time due to mishaps and misfortunes. The site still helps pay for my rent and some other things. If I can transition it into something better that'd be great.

I've been a cricket employee for close to 5 years now and I can't seem to think why everyone here on this forum thinks Cricket is doomed. I think this changeover is exciting. AT&T is clearly going to go after T-Mobile. Which means they will be forced into fairly decent pricing models and to provide better devices at better prices if they want to compete. Also with the GSM network I think this makes it easier for customers to switch as there are many GSM devices. On top on that Google Nexus devices are going to compatible. I think you should keep this site for Cricket. I also think anyone owning a cricket store is in for some serious growth if they make the cut under AT&T.

This site taught me everything I know about flashing and would hate to see it closed down. It would be nice to keep it around and just change the format to GSM.

Does this Cricket change mean we will be able to use AT&T phones with Cricket now?

Any phone that is compatible with AT&T will be able to be unlocked and used with Cricket. At this point it is unclear if AT&T phones will need a network unlock code or if they will just work out the box.

I was working with AIO Wireless for a bit. My AT&T phones actually got sent the APNs automatically and worked as soon as the SIM card was put in...

Even LTE Verizon phones worked with the APNs installed. Of course just HSPA or HSPA+. Not bad at all vs most current users on 3G.

I either need to change the format to GSM and/or have Cricket be a subsection of a larger page which includes real tutorials for carriers such as Page Plus. Help me steer the ship guys.

Soon you'll be able to use AT&T phones.

I don't think it's going down really. The site was originally founded to provide information to people wanting to flash phones to Cricket. As a Cricket only site, it would just provide reviews on phones. Some how to articles. Maybe how to unlock some devices (if your carrier allows it of course). Either that or I expand to cover more.

I say expand to support to GSM devices make sections for flashing the verizon phones to Cricket. More forums for Nexus devices as Cricket pricing may bring a great number users who own those devices. There will more than likely be a lot more support from ROM developers over at XDA as well. I can only guess at this point but I think Cricket will soon grow a lot bigger on the national front. With better devices coming and 4G this is win for current customers and newcomers.
I also don't think AT&T is going to force everyone into buying new phones. You have to think they sunk 1.2 billion into Cricket now are they gonna protect their investment and give the people what is fair and right? Or are they going to lose a couple million customers along with a few million dollars? I don't think so. I have feeling there gonna do something very good just to promote the "new" Cricket even more. At least I think that is the smartest move for them from a business stand point of things.

This Site is about helping others sharing information with others and seeking answers to abandoned questions.....that reeks longevity.
Just think 5 times the current Users and twice as many devices=more noobs
Cricket Users only problem is adding a lil orange theming to the Site.

I'll interject here that site changes made should "invite user growth resulting in more site revenue". No sense wasting time on the site and managing it for pennies.

    sent from the future.
