    Constant Text Messages from 7096422 -Brew something something

    I get about 20 of these a day on my new Ascend II. Love the phone, just don't like looking at my phone 20 times a day only to see it is a bogus test message. I looked around everywhere for a solution and about to try and call them again when i get to a land line since I am pretty sure they will want me on land line when I call in to troubleshot it.

    try replying to the message. the content of your reply should be the word stop. Nothing else. That will usually do it.

    I did this just now and the weirdest thing happened. I instantly got a reply that stated, please use 10 digit number for texting. The sender was a friend of mine on Facebook! I simply just replied Stop stop STOP. I don't think it worked though.

    Called Cricket Support and they had me dial *228 to reset or reprogram my phone. They told me to call back if it persists and not but 20 minutes later - Text from 7096422 again. //BREW: bunch of numbers.... I got 16 of them yesterday, it is really annoying!

    I am sure they are coming from Cricket but they do not show on their side that they are sending them. I have search the internet all over and many people have the problem but nobody has seemed to figure it out. On a mission now.

    I looked at call blocker, it appears to only block phone calls and not texts. Also, there is no area code which i think my be another problem. I am going to look for an app now.

    Call Filter should work.

    Maybe TCall blocking..

    Or just search market for "sms blocker", there's definitely a way to do it.

    I have a hammer here somewhere, that should make it stop. I agree with 154, there are apps that will do this.

    I have the same issue, it it very annoying. I just moved from my old Cricket phone, when I had not been receiving these messages to the Andriod phone and I started getting them the minute I walked out the door. I just figured it was some test messages or something. the message reads:
    7096422:
    //Brew:010104F4ABC:-)ZMAILCI=5226F848684158C4ABDD1A4A827F5291 MC=

    Please help, I should not have to block something from a carrier, the carrier should not send it.

    That happens everytime you receive an email or instant message from windows live or yahoo. Just look for mobile settings or something like that and remove the notification to cell phone crap.

    Also it happens when you are using the email app in a different phone, like a samsung messager, and switch phones to an android, just change the number on the previous phone.

    If you have your old cricket phone, just dial ##626* enter 333333 and go to MDN change that to some random number like 0000001234 and do the same for MIN 0000004321. After youre done phone will restart but you can turn it off now. Hopefully that will help, it did with me.

    Also if you had MyPerks on your old phone that may still be active.
