Cricket has a limited time promotion starting on January 26th for new customers and existing ones as well. Their 5 lines for $100 ($95 with auto bill pay plus taxes and fees) will provide unlimited talk and text with 1GB of full speed Internet. It is based on the existing $50 smartphone plans. You can take advantage of this program with as low as 3 lines. Extra full speed data can still be purchased at $10 / 1 gb / line / month. It appears you will have to visit a Cricket store in order to take advantage of this opportunity.

Currently it appears this promotion will run between January 26, 2014 and March 31, 2014.

    Trade Up

Cricket will also be offering a trade up program. In general the phone must power up, not be financed, and be a clean ESN (eligible for activation on the original network). Newer models (phones which are still being sold) are the best candidates, but for a limited time they will be offering a minimum value for all phones regardless of make and model.

    MyBackup

Other news is that Cricket's MyBackup will be terminated soon. Please save your contact onto your Gmail account or find an alternate means.

Would anyone happen to know if You are a current customer with 3 or more phones on a plan would You need to have all the phones present to utilize this plan package? Or could the primary person (on the existing family plan) ,with just their phone, only be needed to make this change?

just the primary account holder needs to be there. existing customers need to add another line to take advantage of the deal

Nice plan for the family that doesnt use data much. But i would think the typical teen/20 year old would be using much more than 1 gig.. So they would have to be buying extra gigs each month. I guess thats a way for a father paying the whole bill to teach his kids about moderation and paying for their own extra gigs. I used 2 gigs last month so ....maybe i'm reliving my teen years? lol.

after activation and first month pro-rated fee. . yes it will remain $100+ any extras. customers who choose the 5 for $100 are "grandfathered" into it.

Two questions, first how much data can i purchase afterwards? Since my brother uses more than one gig per month. Also does the lifeline discount would apply? Since the auto bill pay is still applies. Thanks in advance.

You may add up to 5 gigs of data at $10.00 per gig to each individual line. However, you MAY NOT change the plan to any other plan for that line. Changing the base plan cancels the 5 for 100 deal.

The ABP discount and lifeline discount will still apply if you sign-up for those specific discounts.

So max 6 gigs per month and all discounts still apply. Cool, that will do the trick. Thanks for the info.

just got off the line with cricket this is what they said:

5 lines /100 FOR ONE MONTH activation
after that its 50 per line on the next monthly bill

    very misleading

this was from 1800cricket and their web support talked to two people

It's only an in store promotion. It is explicitly written that customer support cannot place anyone on this plan, nor can it be done on the web.

the poor phone rep must be confused. the regular monthly rate will be $100+tax+extras for all 5 lines. not just the first month.
