has any one heard of centercode beta ? Its a website where you can sign up to beta test software and hard ware . This one just came to me . Smartphone Testing Opportunity

    Created Sep 5, 2012 @ 12:00 AM

They ask a couple of question to determine if you would qualify for this beta but something caught my eye

    Requirements
    Currently own an Android smartphone
Currently own a Bluetooth headset and/or other devices
    Reside in the US

    Optional Qualifications
    Cricket Users Desired

any one have some guesses as to what this is ?

No, I have never seen anything like this. Is this on a public website or on some intranet? Do you know the source of the site? Are they talking Apps, firmware, or what?

Since this has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the Mercury, It's being moved to General Discussion.

It seems to be an Alcatel 960C 4.2 inch screen 1.4 Snapdragon geared toward the novice user running GB.

Join the program they usually want you to install a few apps on your phone or computer to beta test and they do other electronics you usually get to keep the product but not this one they are promising some sort of gift card.
I was in the program for almost a year before I got this.
They gave many clues on what they wanted for this test they said novice cricket and other keywords so you kind of have to wing it and guess what they are looking for.

I am not that impressed with the device and would not buy it for more than $100-125 but would have potential if rooted and a custom rom.

You might want to read more slowly.
It is geared toward novice users But it has potential.
I have to send this phone back to them if you want I will provide info but I won't take any screens that may reveal my identity.
It is not groundbreaking stuff but is a solid phone and feels good in your hand.
It has a front camera and a 5 MP rear with a flash the screen is very crisp and clear.
It has the typical carrier installed crap.
I do have unlimited use of it while I am testing I may root it before I send it back. just to make a statement it is basically wide open.
And before you ask I did a dump just after I started it up for the first time.

This is not at all surprising. Cricket is for novice users. We are foolish to expend high end stuff until the S3 anyway, because people who have to buy their phone outright generally dont buy$500 phones.

A couple more pics of front an back would be appreciated.

By the way..I was downtown today and I went to radio shack with the intention of looking at the Mercury Ice and I saw that they have the Alcatel Authority in stock. It seems like a cool phone it's just the fact that there's 0 dev support. Idk. I'd think about the One V if it had the 4.0in screen because the Nexus S is the same. Way spec wise. I'm not sure, I'll most likely get the Merc Ice or the Authority in the future

I remember when the mercury had 0 dev support. Then I made a thread for a recovery and it got support. You want to learn about android don't you? Buy it and make it your B!TCH
