When Should I request an ESN Change??

    Hi All,

I tried looking this up in FAQ's but didn't find the answer, sorry if this is a repost. I am currently on the $35 dollar plan with a simple texting phone. I just got a Droid X that I will be flashing to the $45 plan. I want to know the best order to do things-

    In Order (that I assume):

    1) Switch to the $45 Plan
    2) Flash the Droid X to Cricket.
    3) Request ESN Change

    Is this correct?

Im assuming even after I have flashed it to cricket, it wont work til I change the ESN from my current phone to the new one on my account..correct?

    Any Clarification is Appreciated

    Thanks!

Correct. You must request a ESN change in order for your phone to work. If you are a supporting member here you can get it done for free. But if you have Cricket do it I believe there is a $15 dollar phone change fee.

I highly recommend becoming a supported member. It is just $12.99 and a lot comes with that membership. For more information, click on the following link: http://www.cricketusers.com/payments.php

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, indeed it seems like the better option to become a supporting member and it seems like the smart option too.

I will work on the flashing this weekend and return here for the remaining stuff.

    Thanks again!

    You're welcome.

If you need any help, just post. If you need help with flashing please be sure to post in the correct forum.

    In Order (that I assume):

    1) Switch to the $45 Plan <--- this has to be done by Cricket because they are going to pro rate the change and you have to pay them immediately for it to go into effect.
    2) Flash the Droid X to Cricket.
    3) Request ESN Change <--- you will want to do this right after you flash to verify it's all working of course. I usually do it before, but I am pretty sure I'm not going to mess up flashes too bad these days.

    Is this correct?

Im assuming even after I have flashed it to cricket, it wont work til I change the ESN from my current phone to the new one on my account..correct? If you are on the $45 plan and your data is setup correct, it will most likely work BEFORE the esn change.

    Any Clarification is Appreciated

    Thanks!

    Chris..

Thanks for providing this little detail:

It actually helps further answer a question I asked in one of the other forum sections.

    Best!
