Traveled and no 3G and constant busy signal

I live in Charlotte, NC and the phone works great all the time. However I am in Myrtle Beach, SC and having problems. The first day here, everything worked great, 3G, sms, calls. Now it is day two and I can't get 3g anymore and I get a constant error when trying to make a call "Network is busy..." so I cant make outgoing calls.

I have tried a couple PRL's and get the same behavior. Roam Control reports that I am on the Sprint Network when this happens. When I force roam, it puts me on Alltel or so it says, really Verizon. Calls work while roaming but no 3G either but that might be due to it roaming.

Anyway, any ides what is causing problems and what to do to fix?

I live in Lexington, NC just north of Charlotte. I had issues with my evo 3d in Myrtle Beach as well. I was able to make and receive calls, and I had a 3g symbol, but definitely not 3g speeds, everything was super slow. My download speed was .02 Mbps, which is usually around 1 Mbps. I could not even use my gps because it was so slow. I want my phone to work when I travel. Would selecting roaming and extended coverage for $5 a month help with our issues in Myrtle Beach?

want phones to work when you travel then go with a network with better coverage, there is no fix for coverage unless you got major pull with cricket and can get engineering to come out and provide coverage where you are travellling

might try *228 in each major city you are in, ...to force a PRL update for that location. Of course, wont help much where coverage is weak to begin with.

I've used PRL hybrids and mostly had 3G traveling the major roads in east Texas, south Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

I couldn't make a call so *228 didn't work. After fooling around with the phone, I found that in my Vocoder settings that Home was set to EVRC-B. For Charlotte, that worked just fine but in Myrtle Beach it didn't. I switched it to 13k and I was able to make calls again.

The reason it was so slow is because in Myrtle Beach, there is no Native coverage. You are roaming on Sprint but it will show up as Home. Sprint lies about their 3G. Your phone will go 1xRTT (2G) and it will display 3G icon unless you have a custom ROM that displays it correctly or look at in ##DEBUG#. I did find my GPS was having issues in some spots but fortunately for the most part it did function ok.
