ViperROM ICS (Android 4.0.x + Sense 3.6) works great! No fuss MMS!

    First read this thread thoroughly:
    [ROM][Updated 5.5.12]viperROM IC3D Beta 2 | OC Daemon, viperControl, and more! - xda-developers

(for the love of god DON'T FLASH THE FIRMWARE UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO AND KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES. Just flash the ROM).

Once you've installed the ROM, open the stock messenging app and under settings change the size limit to 500K. Edit: 1MB works fine too, see post #4

Then go to the dialer and hit ##DATA#

    Go to Advanced

    Go to MMSC

    Use these settings:
    MMSC:
    http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms

MMS proxy: (not set) <-- make it completely blank

    MMS port: 8080

    MMS protocol: WAP 2.0

    Viola!

At least it worked for me. YMMV. I now have a fully functioning ICS phone, thanks to the leaked RUU from last week

*WARNING: There are reports of people on Sprint getting poor signal, no roaming etc using the VM Leak. I have been through ICS and back to Gingerbread and had no problems. Make sure you nandroid back up before you move forward. From what I read in the Viper forum people have had issues installing the ROM with the current firmware and S-ON. If anyone else flashes with 1.5 S-ON please report if it installs clean with everything working. Specifically 3G, it would make my flashing a lot quicker.

This is based on the leaked Virgin Mobile RUU. AFAIK there is little/no risk as long as you don't flash the firmware. Of course, everyone interested should thoroughly read the thread about whatever ROM they are going to flash.

UPDATE: I reflashed with the next beta and lost the 500K MMS size option (odd since nothing mms related is in the changelog); I used the lowest available setting (1MB) and it seems to be working fine.

    1,000 KB = 1 MB

So 500 mb is 500,000 kb

(The conversion for the different sizes is 1,000
    1000 btyes = 1kb
    1000 kb = 1 mb
    1000 mb = 1 gb
    1000 gb = 1 tb

1024 divisible depending on who you ask.

Another update: I have moved on to MeanROM ICS since Viper wasn't seeing any more development. Everything went smoothly EXCEPT for one extra step- I had to put the MMS information from post #1 not only in ##DATA# but also in the settings of the MMS app- they didn't carry over. Everything else works great. One day I'll be brave enough to try to get everything working on CM9...

    ZR3d GT was nice
ZR3d bareback and even drama was nice

then i had to go and try something that was off-base (for me anyway), ParanoidAndroid!!! still a lil buggy, but i am enjoying this ROM
