That's kind of what I was saying. I've seen instructions that have you install PDANet in order to get drivers and adb, but if you have drivers and adb already then you don't need PDANet.

But pdanet installs its own modem driver... something not needed for adb ... you can use adb without pdanet and can root and unlock bootloader without it as well

And plus Google tells you how to root and install custom recovery for the nexus s on there source.android.com page

Yeah, I agree you don't need the PDANet software, but PDANet will make sure you have the USB driver and ADB.
    Here

is the USB driver I'm referring to.

Used this guide and everything(except mms) is working great, did the flashing on stock and then moved to Ice Cream Sandwich.

    Thanks!

I tried editing the apns_config.xml, I decompiled the Mms.apk and edited the config there too and even removed their database stores, but no luck, messages just stay at "sending" forever.

It'll be cool if you can come up with a solution.

Cricket doesn't allow non Cricket phone ESNs to be placed on accounts in all areas. This seems to be more common of an occurrence with these new areas they've added since allowing Best Buy to sell their products where they have no normal stores.

This information is based off what a few dealers have told us. You can probably get a more official explanation from Cricket themselves.

    Thanks Joenathene.

So, I need some advice. I've gone through this tutorial including the one that Joenatheane posted for QPST. I used my phone number for the MDN and MIN. I used the 35568 PRL as well as a different one (4637). The flash finished with no errors and rebooted my phone.

I also had the forum guys change my account to this phone's ESN (using the DEC MEID).

Now, when I'm on the unlock screen it still says Sprint, and when I dial *228, it doesn't do anything. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this. Anybody have any good ideas? I can post screenshots or provide additional info if needed. Thanks.

    BACKGROUND:
I bought a used Nexus S 4G online. I created a new Cricket account online ($45 plan) and bought the $10 Samsung Chrono. It just arrived in the mail today. I haven't activated it yet as the ESN has been changed to that of the Nexus S.

it'll say "Sprint" that's in your ROM and is purely cosmetic, you can dial *22804 for activation, for some reason *228 itself doesn't work...
