AT&T prepaid brand Cricket Wireless has added a new phone to its lineup this week. While normally I would say that the ZTE Overture 2 isn’t really anything to get super excited about, this upgraded handset is one of the lowest-priced Android Lollipop phones I’ve seen yet, and the specs aren’t half bad.
At $50, you really can’t complain about much. And, to make it even better, Cricket is currently running a limited-time mail-in rebate promotion for customers who port in, which would make the phone free. And free is always the best price.
As far as specs go, the ZTE Overture 2 is more or less what you’d expect from just about any sub $100 smartphone:

  • Android Lollipop 5.0
  • 1.2 GHz quad-core processor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 8 GB memory
  • microSD slot
  • 5 MP back camera
  • VGA front camera
  • 2100 mAh battery
  • 4G connectivity

In order to get this device for free, you have to
purchase the phone

, then fill out and mail in
this rebate form

by July 9, 2015. Rebates are only available for customers who port from a non-AT&T brand and purchase two months of service. The rebate will be paid in the form of a prepaid Visa card.
