Boost Mobile Samsung Galaxy prevail to cricket

i know its weird because cricket is more expensive than boost mobile but a friend of mine wants the galaxy prevail added to his cricket account. i got the newest cdma workshop but i dont have the drivers for the computer and cdma workshop to recognise the device. i want it to show up on one of the com/ports.

i can pretty much figure things out from there, does anyone know where or what i can do to get cdma workshop to get the phone to be recognised?

Did you try the drivers in the Samsung galaxy section? Maybe they are compatible

I dont think its a driver issue because the phone comes up in device manager and successfully connects to that port in cdma workshop, its just it cant read it in any of the DM modes

You can try a few things since its a Samsung phone. There's ##8778#, a shortcut to phone util, dial up networking, or the method used to get the Nexus into diag mode.

    Just experiment.

    Have you tried this?

Get into DIAG (diagnostic) mode by dialing *#*#8778#*#*. Place USB in modem mode. Exit.
It's from the Nexus S 4G which also doesn't use Touchwiz.

I just half flashed one of these, they're coming back to get the rest when they have the money..

There seems to be a lot of 'security' on this phone from Boost, they really do not want you to flash it easily. So you'll be hard pressed to do any of the programming through a PC.

    ANYWAYS.. here's what I did

    1. Plug in phone in debugging mode
    2. adb shell getprop ril.MSL
    3. ##8778# > USB Mode
    4. CDMA Workshop > Unlock with MSL, won't let you write SPC but that's ok
    5. CDMA Workshop > Write PRL
    6. Unplug phone
    7. ##SPC# > Edit > write MDN and MIN > Done

On reboot the phone should be half flashed.

Full flash programming would have to be done in ##DATA# then most likely normal Samsung Galaxy steps.

Yeah I will have to try that. To get the msl I need root which I'm gonna root it when I get a chance.

I got it flashed to cricket, well talk and txt.
What I did was downloaded Odin recovery ee14 with custom kernal and prerooted and clockwork mod recovery.
    1) Installed Odin recovery with kernal and prerooted in DM MODE. (Holding inVolume down, camera, and power button until it says "downloading". )
    2) Downloaded android terminal when the phone booted up.
    3) typed "su"
    4) typed "getprop ril.MSL" to get the spc. I wrote down the spc.
    5) in the dialer, I dialed "##8778#" and I typed then msl in.
    6) I changed it to USB mode.,
    7) I booted up cdma workshop, went to security and typed the spc, it worked but for some reason I couldn't change the spc to 000000
    8) I went to cave (I think) and wrote the prl (35352.prl is the latest one I got, I got it off my droid x last night when I did a *228). The prl was successful. I went to main tab, clicked read, didn't read any of them.
    9) rebooted phone, called 611, and it was cricket.

This might help, micha3lall3n from androidforums told me this
for some reason it wont let you save the nv items or nam1 and nam2 settings.. but i founda way to bypass that and get the nv items anyway... so for the nv items again go to android terminal

    su dd if=/dev/stl5of=/sdcard/cdma.rfs

The NVM\NUM folder contains all the important NV items for your phone, the imortant ones are 465 465_1 466 466_1 11921194but youprobally should keep a backup of your entire folder.

ha and aaa pass are stored in the nv items, you need to use a hex editor to veiw the nv item you want

NV 1192- SPRINTAAA KEYUNIQUE TO EACH PHONE this is the important one SPRINT and BOOSTHAKEYisalways 73 65 63 72 65 74 (hex to ascii = secret) I am not sure which NV item has the Boost AAA Keys, but doing a profile update getsit loadedon the phone

now last part prevail 16 digit pass is samsung defaul wich is 01f2030f5f678ff9
I haven't did a full flash, because I don't have it activated with any number.

to change the spc to "000000" in cdma workshop after connecting and reading, send the original SPC to the phone, then go to "Other" tab and navigate to "R-UIM" and click read, then on "config" change that to "NV only" then click "write" tadaa

First of all, for this method to work you must ALREADY WRITE THE CRICKET PRL TO THE PHONE USING CDMAWORKSHOP.

To get the diag port up, you must use the proper dialer code for modem mode.... which is##8778#

Aye, this device is VERY hard to flash. As most CDMA software can't even read the phone. But here is how you can do it:

Execute this command in ADB SHELL as ROOT (MAKE A BACKUP IF YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YA):
    dd if=/dev/stl5 of=/sdcard/cdma.rfs

    Now download MagicISO (

Magic ISO Maker 5.4 with serial.rar

) and open that cdma.rfs file.
You will see your NVItems under nvm>num

Heres the hard part, you have to manually modify each nv item that pertains to a flash (generally 465, 465_1, 466, 466_1, 1192, 1194, 178) Also, you need to find out (Google?) which NV items store the MDN, MIN, IMSI, etc and modify those accordingly.
There are a few other NV items you may need to modify. Or you can just do this part of the programming right on the phone through the programming dialer code which is your SPC (##SPC HERE#).
I use the program called UltraEdit (
http://www.ultraedit.com/files/ue_english.exe) for easy hex editing of binary files (no .extention)

Heres the command once you have created your new cdma.rfs file.
NOTE: In order to preserve the rfs format, you must not try to convert the file or save it as another filetype. When editing files drag/drop directly into MagicISO and save as .rfs.
NOTE: THIS PROCESS IS DANGEROUS AND MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE.

    rm
    /dev/stl5
    dd if=/sdcard/cdmaNEW.rfs of=/dev/stl5

Note: DO NOT REBOOT PHONE WITHOUT THE /dev/stl5 PARTITION. RESTORE THE BACKUP YOU MADE IF YOU HAVE TO!!!

(where cdmaNEW.rfs is the new rfs file on your SD card)
