    QPST Tutorial with Pictures (Cricket)

NOTE: I have posted screenshots of every QPST screen for the Huawei Mercury.

    http://www.cricketusers.com/flashing...i-mercury.html

QPST is an important tool for flashing phones in general. We will discuss it's application with Cricket here.

    Download thread: http://www.cricketusers.com/flashing...ild-355-a.html

There are different situations for every phone, but this tutorial should be helpful. When working with Motorola Droid phones, you will most likely have to use QPST first and send NV items. Then you can look at all the other settings in QPST.

    1. Download a version of QPST. There are many available on the Internet. For most phones I use this one: http://www.cricketusers.com/flashing...ild-355-a.html

Newer version: Here is the link for QPST build 366
    http://conflipper.com/Software/QPST_2.7_366.rar

    a. Install it!

    2. Hook up your phone and place it in diagnostic mode. You will need the drivers for your phone. For the Droid, Droid 2, Droid X, you may have to use HW Virtual Serial Port. Most HTCs require that you punch in ##3424 send to enter this mode.

    3. Use device manager or something to find out which port the device is on. Enter QPST Configuration, go to the ports tab, click add new port. Your device should be listed here. If you don't see it unclick the checkbox that says "Show serial and USB/QC Diagnostic ports only". If you still don't see it then you must go back above and figure out how to get your phone recognized by your computer and in DIAG mode.

    4. Once you have added your phone's port, you should see it on the list. Click it and then click start clients > service programming in the top menu.

    5. You should see your phone here now.

    Select it and hit okay.

    6. On the next screen you will enter read from phone and enter the SPC when it requests it. Now it should be reading from the phone.

    7. On the CDMA tab, you need to enter the directory number (which is aka the MDN or your phone number). Then enter your MIN in the IMSI_S box. Cricket should be able to give you this number, or you might be able to find it in your old phone's settings.

    8. Go to the Roam tab. Here your number will most likely already reflect what you entered earlier. You do need to make sure the Preferred Roaming Enabled is checked and that the PRL you plan to put on your phone is referenced in the file location box.

(Don't worry about the checkbox for preferred roaming enabled, I think I might have copied that checkbox over in Photoshop)

    9. Next move to the MIP tab. Note what is said in the picture in red. You will be able to figure out what works best. The EVO and Hero often like Simple. With Sim+Mob you will get a data call error. On my Droid 2 I use Sim+Mob. Double click the profiles and make them match the second image in this section. Sometimes there are more than one. Be sure to select the modified one by using the Active User drop down box.

    10. Once you have done all of this, go to the PPP config tab. You will be modifying the Um and AN.

    11. On completion of all of this you will be ready to write to phone. Go ahead and write to phone. Sometimes you will get some errors, but usually they don't matter. Let your phone receive the modifications and then it will most likely reboot on its own. Some phones don't require reboot. Also note that if you read from your phone again, that the password fields will be blank. This may be so you don't take passwords off phones from other carriers. If you do not make any password changes, it will remain the same password as before.

What version OS are you using? You've downloaded the appropriate HTC Diag drivers? Used ##3424 to enable diagnostic mode?

    MetroPCS to Cricket

I flashed an HTC Evo to MetroPCS a month ago, but it doesn't work when I'm in Washington DC, so I want to flash it to Cricket. Is the formula still the same?

It's very similar. Just look at the EVO flashing tutorial in the EVO section. Good luck!

Thanks. Do I need a phone number before I do this? Or can I do it and put the number in their system?

Well you can prepare the phone, root/recovery, rom, load PRL and some other stuff.

I'd just get the number first and tell them that you are flashing the phone. Just tell them to open the account and that you know how to do it. Sometimes they might give you BS about flashing a phone. Just tell them to do their job and put that ESN on a new Cricket account.

The required password/spc for Droid 2 would be 000000. All Verizon phones are 000000. Hope this helps.

I think that was an error when I photoshopped these pictures. It doesn't have to be checked. I get NV enabled warnings, however they don't stop me from successfully flashing phones.

Here are the instructions on on how to get your phone set up with HW virtural serial port....

Hold down “T” on the keypad and power on phone.

Plug into computer and open HW
    virtural

    Serial Port

In HWVS set the IP address to 192.168.16.2 and the port to 11008, choose the com port you wish to use and then go to the settings tab and uncheck "NVT ENABLED" box or else it wont work right, and then click the "Create Com" button..
