TEASER Cricket Phone Account + Verizon UM175 USB Dongle = Internet
Okay so I'm thinking about publishing the results on a little test I did. This post is actually being sent from a Netbook that is attached to the Verizon Pantech UM175 USB Internet Dongle that was flashed over to Cricket. It's on my phone's data profile and works flawlessly. This means one plan = internet for a phone and this dongle. Both can be on the network simultaneously. No more WiFi tethering which means no data interupption when using my phone for other stuff.
This was just a test, and I don't encourage others to follow in my footsteps. This was only a test.
Basically I had a USB dongle (Pantech UM175) with a bad esn. Since I couldn't do anything with it, I checked and saw that it comes up with the port when you install it on your computer. It can be accessed via CDMA Workshop and QPST. The Cricket settings don't stick if you don't do this programming correctly. Basically it was programmed using QPST and then I flashed the NV items using CDMA Workshop. If you open it again in CDMA and write soemthing, it's most likely going to revert back to the Verizon settings.
So who wants a tutorial? Give me some feedback, and I promise to make it.
These dongles can be picked up for about 30 bucks or so on eBay.
I am on the Android plan. I'm guessing if you weren't on the Android plan, you'd have to set the proxy to wap.mycricket.com:8080 in your browser.
I'm guessing this can be done for a variety of modems AND hotspots.Last edited by chrisngrod; 04-27-2011 at 11:19 PM.

I'm almost back home. Still have to go to graduation for this school and then I can focus on the forum again.
Feel free to send me a reminder if no progress has been made by Wednesday. I have drill this weekend so the first couple of days back will be unproductive.
